HRH PRINCE LOUIS OF BOURBON DAMPIERRE

Prince Louis of Bourbon was born on 18 May 1963 in Paris, France. He is the youngest son of His Majesty King Albert II, King Emeritus, of Belgium. The Prince of Bourbon was born as the result of an affair between Albert II and the late HRH Princess Sandrine of Bourbon Dampierre. The Prince’s half-brother is the current King of the Belgians, HM King Philippe. Prince Louis along with his lawful consort, HRH The Prince James of Bourbon Dampierre, Sovereign Duke of Aquitaine, are counted collectively as the 8th heirs-in-waiting to the Crown of Belgium.
Prince Louis was raised in Paris and Northwest France by his late mother The Princess Sandrine of France. The Princess and the Prince maintained their family home at a private chateau in Brittany, France. The family also maintained private homes in: Paris; Monaco; The French Caribbean; and Morocco. The Prince was raised “off the radar”, as HRH always quips, and enjoyed a relatively normal childhood for a Royal Prince.
Prince Louis was educated at a well known boarding school in Switzerland for his entire secondary education. The name of the institution remains sealed to protect the Prince’s dignity, and HRH’s right to privacy. As the Prince grew up away from Court in Brussels and did not rely on public monies being paid to him for his upkeep he retains the right to be a Prince Royal who is not a working royal. When the Prince completed his studies at boarding school he attended university in Brussels for four years meriting a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration. He then attended a military school keeping with the tradition that all the sons of the King of Belgium be trained as Armed Forces Officers. The Prince would later attend doctorate courses at a university in Moscow, Russia. 3 years after his studies in Moscow began he was awarded a Doctorate in Military Strategy.
Prince Louis was born as an heir to the throne of Belgium, but he is also a French Citizen by birth. He has served in the French Navy as a flag officer for 3 decades. He is involved in the planning, and the execution of naval intelligence strategy. The Prince maintains the high rank of a flag officer while serving incognito to protect him from targeted attacks from any enemy force wishing to exploit his status as a Royal Prince for financial gain. The Prince serves under a pseudonym for HRH’s privacy and protection.
Prince Louis met the then Right Honorable James DePriest, Vicomte des Pres de Montpezat in the mid twenty-teens while the Vicomte des Pres was studying in Northwest France at a Duchy of Aquitaine owned vocational college. The Prince and the Vicomte were instantly drawn to the other and they quickly began a regnant-to-consort relationship privately. After growing very close, the couple courted for several years. The couple became betrothed in 2016 and then were married in 2022 at a small, private ceremony at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France.
The Princely couple maintain a happy regnant-to-consort relationship and rely on the respect and support of the other as they navigate the stormy seas of life. The Princes maintain their official residence at the ducal Palace in Poitiers with private homes in Brittany, Paris, NYC, and the French Caribbean.
Prince Louis is fast approaching retirement and then the Princely Couple will partially retire and move fulltime to their chateau while still governing the Duchy of Aquitaine's daily business.
